Reduce Failed Payments and Involuntary Churn
Customers using Payments AI can now add a backup payment method to their subscription orders, helping reduce involuntary churn caused by primary card declines.
When a subscription renewal fails with the primary payment method, PAI will automatically retry with the backup card based on your dunning rules. This means fewer lost customers due to expired cards, billing address changes, or temporary card issues.

How it works:
Admin Side
: When viewing a subscription order, you'll see a new "Backup Payment Method" panel where you can select an existing card or add a new one—just like managing the primary payment method.
Self-Service
: Customers can add and manage their own backup payment methods from the Customer Center. They'll see a clear indicator showing which card is their backup across all subscriptions, and can update it anytime.

Automatic Retry
: When a renewal payment fails, PAI follows your configured dunning rules and automatically tries the backup card when you have "Try Backup Method" enabled in your dunning settings.
