We should be able to add a date to a contact and then use that as the trigger event /date in the workflow, so We can send emails to multiple clients having different due dates.

I need to automatically capture when a contact enters a workflow (contact date joined/entry date).
I want to use this date in conditional logic to automatically route people to the correct step in a sequence based on their entry date.
Contact attributes only support Text and Select fields, not Date fields.
There's no way to automatically set a date when someone enters or finishes a workflow, which is very frustrating.

Add custom fields (attributes) to contacts of type DATE and DATETIME. Allow workflow logic based on those dates/times. For Example, Wait until today is 3 days before the contact's date field, then send email. Or another logic example: If today is 5 days before contact's date field then go to right side of split/branch in workflow, else go to the left side. Or, wait until 1 hour before the contact's datetime field, and then send an email reminder. Pretty much every other CRM system that contains "workflow" functionality has this basic functionality. Use Cases are numerous - but a very simple one is Send an email on a special date (eg, milestone anniversary - one year after 2CC award), or a reminder email based on dates and times.
