I apologize for any confusion here as 'time' is not exactly the right metric here, it's 'traffic'.

For example, a split that has 1000 hits in a day would give faster split test result than one that has 100 hits, right.

As far as how the traffic is split, the standard practice is to randomly assign based on the percent split to avoid the possibility of a pattern in visitor traffic that you aren't aware of that causes certain types of visitors to always be sorted into one group or the other. So if it's 50/50, they have an equal chance of landing on either page.

If you only have a few dozen or hundred visitors in a month, you probably aren't likely to get statistically significant results from tests without enough sample data, you simply need more traffic.
